Tengrinews.kz – Kazakhstan’s President, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, met with the current OSCE Chairperson, Elina Valtonen, to discuss the values that Kazakhstan upholds, citing a statement from the Akorda press service.
Tokayev expressed his support for the work of Elina Valtonen, who took on the role of OSCE Chairperson amidst a challenging global and regional security landscape.
"This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Helsinki Final Act. Half a century later, this document remains the cornerstone of European security, enshrining key principles such as sovereignty, territorial integrity, and respect for human rights. Kazakhstan firmly adheres to these fundamental values," said Tokayev.
He also praised the state of Kazakh-Finnish relations, emphasizing that Finland has been a long-standing partner for Kazakhstan in the Nordic region. Tokayev expressed Kazakhstan's readiness to further enhance bilateral relations.
Elina Valtonen highlighted the importance the OSCE places on developing ties with Kazakhstan and Central Asia.
"I commend your efforts to enhance Kazakhstan's international reputation, through which the country has positioned itself as an influential middle power in the region and the world. Kazakhstan’s credibility is strengthened through active participation in organizations such as the OSCE. We sincerely appreciate your proactive role during these challenging times, especially in the economic and environmental sectors. Cooperation with the OSCE Program Office in Astana has been highly fruitful," she stated.
At the end of the meeting, President Tokayev sent warm wishes to Finnish President Alexander Stubb and reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s readiness to work closely with Finland to strengthen the friendship and cooperation between the two nations.
