Tengrinews.kz - Around 40,000 people in Kazakhstan are diagnosed with cancer annually, according to figures presented at a Ministry of Healthcare meeting.

Health Minister Akmaral Alnazarova stated that early-stage cancer detection (stages 0-I) grew last year, reaching 31.4 percent of all newly diagnosed malignant tumors.

"Every year, approximately 40,000 people in Kazakhstan are diagnosed with cancer. As of the end of 2024, more than 230,000 Kazakhstanis are registered as cancer patients. The most common types of cancer include breast cancer, colorectal cancer, lung cancer, stomach cancer, and cervical cancer," Alnazarova said, as quoted by the ministry's press service.

She added that Kazakhstan plans to revise patient pathways for oncology cases based on clinical groupings and update the national cancer care standards accordingly.

The minister instructed regional health departments to strengthen efforts in implementing the country's comprehensive cancer control plan.
