Tengrinews.kz – Telegram will open a representative office in Kazakhstan, according to Zhaslan Madiyev, the Minister of Digital Development, Innovation, and Aerospace Industry.
According to Zhaslan Madiyev, the ministry has been actively collaborating with Telegram to swiftly remove inappropriate content and block harmful channels.
"In line with our legislation, internet platforms like Telegram, WhatsApp, and TikTok are now required to have a representative in Kazakhstan. We've already reached an agreement with Telegram to appoint their representative and open an office – an important step for improving content control," said Madiyev, as quoted by the ministry's press service.
Madiyev also met with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and representatives from major American companies, such as Meta and Apple. It was noted that data security, combating fake accounts, and user protection were discussed during these meetings.
In the summer of 2024, Telegram founder Pavel Durov visited Kazakhstan, exploring Almaty, Astana, and the Burabay resort. He shared his impressions on his channel.
"The beauty of Kazakhstan can only be rivaled by its ambitions. The country attracts international companies and tech startups with business-friendly policies and favorable taxes.”

At the end of September, Pavel Durov announced that Telegram would provide authorities with IP addresses and phone numbers of users who violate platform rules. He later clarified that Telegram has been sharing personal data since 2018.
His statements were made against the backdrop of an investigation into Telegram, which was launched after he was detained in August by French intelligence services.
