Survivor of AZAL plane crash near Aktau dies

Tengrinews.kz – The sole surviving passenger of the Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) plane that crashed near Aktau in December 2024 has died in Azerbaijan, Oxu.Az reports.

Nurullah Sirajov, a resident of the Zagatala district, passed away at his home on the morning of October 18.

On December 25, 2024, Sirajov and his wife were traveling to visit their son in Grozny when the crash occurred. Both suffered serious injuries and were hospitalized.

According to media reports, Sirajov had been battling cancer and was flying to Grozny for a surgery related to his illness. However, due to the air crash, the operation never took place, and he was taken to a hospital in Baku with multiple injuries.

Although he managed to recover from the trauma sustained in the crash, he was ultimately unable to overcome his illness, the report says.
