Tengrinews.kz – Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held talks with the President of Finland in Astana.
Alexander Stubb arrived in Kazakhstan for the first time on an official visit as the President of Finland.
During the negotiations, President Tokayev emphasized that the Finnish leader’s visit was of special importance — a significant and, in many ways, groundbreaking event that would give new momentum to the development of bilateral relations.
“Kazakhstan and Finland have established good traditions of friendship and mutual cooperation. We have no unresolved issues, yet the potential for collaboration in investment and trade remains far from exhausted. I believe that the business forum organized at your initiative is of great importance. I will also participate in it later today and hope it will inspire entrepreneurs of our two countries to strengthen business ties. Moreover, we maintain strong humanitarian contacts. Overall, Finland enjoys great popularity in Kazakhstan — our people hold your country, its culture, and traditions in high regard. Many Kazakh tourists enjoy visiting Finland,” said Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
He added that this visit would open up new opportunities to strengthen the partnership between the two nations.
Alexander Stubb noted that this was his third visit to Kazakhstan and recalled his first meeting with Tokayev.

“We first met in 2008, when I was serving as Finland’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and you were the Speaker of the Senate. I believe today we will focus on two key areas. The first is the development of our bilateral relations and business cooperation. I am accompanied by a large business delegation that includes representatives of more than 20 leading Finnish companies. It was a pleasure to see familiar Finnish brands such as Isku and Honkarakenne on the streets of Astana. The second area of our talks is foreign policy and security. We share many common interests and are committed to finding solutions to complex global issues,” the Finnish President said during the meeting.
