Tengrinews.kz - Senate deputies approved amendments to the legislation on the gambling business.
The law was developed to improve regulation in the field of healthcare and the gambling business, and to strengthen control over participation in gambling. It provides for amendments to the laws "On public health and the healthcare system", "On advertising", "On gambling business," and "On compulsory social health insurance".
"The law 'On advertising' has been amended to limit the distribution of advertising of bookmakers and totalizators. The changes are aimed at prohibiting advertising of bookmakers and totalizators on online platforms, with permission to engage in advertising only on the territory of gambling zones and official Internet resources of these companies. It is also specified that the ban on advertising does not apply to sports facilities during sporting events," said Senator Ainur Argynbekova.
In addition, advertising of bookmakers is allowed exclusively in sports-themed media.
A ban on sending gambling advertisements to subscriber mobile devices has also been introduced.
"The Law 'On Gambling Business' includes a ban on participation in gambling for persons sentenced to restriction of freedom or conditionally sentenced. These measures will, first of all, protect the above-mentioned persons from committing repeated crimes, including on the basis of gambling or betting during the period of serving a suspended sentence, and in general will increase the social responsibility of the gambling business and reduce the risks associated with gambling," the senator added.
Last year, President Tokayev signed a law on gambling business issues. The Head of State also signed the law "On Amendments and Additions to the Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Administrative Offenses".
