Details

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Healthcare cross-checked their databases and reviewed almost 370,000 people who are on the dispensary (long-term medical) register.

It turned out that 273,800 of them had never held a driver’s licence.

A further 96,000 people had previously been issued licences. Of these:

  • for 41,700 people, their driver’s licences had already been revoked at that time;
  • for 54,400 people, the licences were still valid.

“As of 10 December 2025, 4,540 claims have been submitted to the courts, following the consideration of which the validity of 1,787 driver’s licences have been terminated. These citizens had no right to drive vehicles due to medical contraindications,” the statement said.
