Tengrinews.kz - Heavy rain, thunderstorms, and squally winds are expected in Almaty on May 23, according to the city’s Department for Emergency Situations (DES).
Authorities said that during the second half of the day, the city may see thunderstorms, hail, and wind gusts reaching 18–20 meters per second during storms.
“We strongly urge residents and tourists to follow personal safety precautions and avoid hiking in the mountains. Stay safe,” the statement reads.

On May 23, the city will experience partly cloudy weather. Rain is expected in the afternoon, sometimes heavy, along with thunderstorms and possible hail. Southwesterly wind at 3–8 m/s, with gusts up to 18 m/s during thunderstorms. Nighttime temperatures will be +16…+18°C, rising to +25…+27°C during the day.
On May 24, partly cloudy skies will continue, with rain, thunderstorms, and possible hail. Southwesterly wind at 5–10 m/s, with gusts up to 15 m/s during storms. Nighttime temperatures will be +14…+16°C, daytime +23…+25°C.
On May 25, partly cloudy skies, intermittent rain, thunderstorms, and daytime hail are expected. Winds from the west and southwest at 5–10 m/s, gusting up to 15 m/s during thunderstorms. Nighttime temperatures will be +13…+15°C, and daytime +25…+27°C.
