Tengrinews.kz — Russia has extradited to Kazakhstan a suspect in illegal business activity as part of a transnational criminal group, the Prosecutor General’s Office said.

It was established that in 2023 the suspect illegally stored and transported excisable goods (cigarettes) across Kazakhstan without identification markings in order to export them to Russia for sale.

“As a result, the amount of unpaid excise tax to Kazakhstan’s budget exceeded 1 billion tenge. After committing the crime, the offender went into hiding and was therefore placed on the international wanted list,” the Prosecutor General’s Office said.
