Tengrinews.kz - U.S. Ambassador to Kazakhstan Daniel Rosenblum has shared his views on the potential direction of U.S. policy towards Kazakhstan as a new head of the diplomatic mission takes over.
According to the diplomat, the United States' approach, maintained over several decades, is unlikely to change significantly, as American interests in the region remain consistent.
"I believe the policy will likely remain very similar. I do not foresee any major shifts. Over the past 30 years, U.S. policy in Central Asia, and particularly in Kazakhstan, has demonstrated continuity. I expect this to persist because our primary interests in supporting Kazakhstan's independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity remain unchanged. Therefore, I anticipate more continuity than change," the ambassador said in response to questions from a Tengrinews.kz correspondent.
Earlier, Ambassador Rosenblum announced his decision to step down. He informed the Kazakh government of his intention to leave his post on January 20, 2025, and retire after nearly 28 years of service in the U.S. State Department.
