Tengrinews.kz - Residents of the Turksib district of Almaty reported that they have been without gas since last night. According to them, many homes are without heating.
"Since last night, there has been no heating or gas in the entire Zhuldyz neighborhood and the surrounding streets of the city of Almaty, Turksib district," said the residents.
QazaqGaz Aimaq JSC reported that on January 16, during earthworks carried out by unidentified individuals to lay sewage pipes for third parties, a section of the underground medium-pressure gas pipeline was damaged.
"The incident occurred as a result of unprofessional actions of private individuals during the drilling of the asphalt surface. As a result, the Almaty production branch of QazaqGaz Aimaq immediately began emergency recovery work on the damaged gas pipeline section," the company said in a statement.
During the repair work, gas supply will be temporarily suspended for:
- 8,048 apartments in multi-story residential buildings;
- 2,543 houses in the private sector;
- 67 public utility and industrial enterprises.
For safety reasons, residents of Almaty are strongly urged to close gas valves during the repair work and not to open them until the commissioning procedures are completed.
