Tengrinews.kz - A rare honey badger has been photographed in the Ustyurt Nature Reserve.

The image was shared on the official Instagram account of the Committee for Forestry and Wildlife.

According to the post, Pulatov, an employee of the Ustyurt State Nature Reserve, captured this exceptional image of the honey badger (Mellivora capensis), a predator that is found only in very limited areas of Kazakhstan.

The honey badger inhabits the southern and southwestern Ustyurt region, favoring deep gorges, karst formations, ravines, and areas with diverse vegetation, including saxaul, boyalych, and caragana.

"This species is primarily nocturnal and active at dusk but can be active during the day in winter. Honey badgers are known to breed once a year and may enter short periods of hibernation during colder months," the statement said.

Earlier, a video of a wild boar and a roe deer, filmed in the Charyn National Park, appeared online.
