Tengrinews.kz - During a monitoring mission in the “Ertis Ormany” reserve in the Pavlodar region, specialists discovered the nest of one of Kazakhstan’s rarest birds of prey — the imperial eagle (Aquila heliaca), which is listed in the Red Book.

The nest contains live and healthy chicks of this endangered species. Their appearance in the wild is a rare and significant event. Even in protected reserves, the birth of imperial eagle chicks is extremely uncommon, and such occurrences are typically closely monitored by ornithologists.

The presence of chicks indicates a favorable environmental situation in the region and effective species protection measures. For scientists, this is an important sign: the imperial eagle continues to reproduce in its natural habitat.

What other natural wonders were captured on camera

Kazakhstan’s nature once again reminds us how vibrant and full of surprises it is. Camera traps aren’t the only way to capture rare sights of these animals. Kazakhstani citizens have also recently encountered Red Book species.

Tien Shan brown bear in the Kolsay Lakes National Park

While hiking the trail to Middle Kolsai Lake, tourists unexpectedly filmed a Tien Shan brown bear — a rare inhabitant of Kazakhstan’s mountains, also listed in the Red Book.

The predator was captured on camera against the backdrop of a dense forest where it feels safe. Tien Shan brown bears are true symbols of the wild, and encountering one is an extraordinary experience.

The national park administration reminds visitors: if you’re lucky enough to see a wild animal — keep a safe distance and simply enjoy the moment.

Marmots in the Altyn-Emel National Park

During a field trip to the Sabindinsky district, rangers from the Altyn-Emel National Park unexpectedly spotted a pair of bobak marmots and managed to capture them on video.

These charming rodents are among the largest of the marmot species. Bobak marmots inhabit northern Kazakhstan and play an important role in the steppe ecosystem: they loosen the soil, create shelters for other animals, and serve as indicators of a healthy environment.
