Tengrinews.kz — The Head of State sent a telegram of condolences to the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
In the telegram, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted that he received with deep sorrow the sad news of the passing of Qatar’s former emir, the Father Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.
The Head of State emphasized that in this difficult hour, he shares the bitterness of the loss with the Emir of Qatar, his family and compatriots.
“Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani was an outstanding figure who laid a strong foundation for Qatar’s prosperity and the well-being of its people, and who sincerely served the cause of strengthening international stability. Kazakhstanis will always remember your father, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa, as a wise leader, an authoritative politician of international stature and a historic figure who made a great contribution to strengthening bilateral cooperation,” the telegram reads.
On July 12, former Emir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani died at the age of 74. He ruled Qatar from 1995 to 2013 and then voluntarily handed power to his son, the current Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
It was under Hamad that Qatar became one of the world’s largest exporters of liquefied natural gas and significantly strengthened its influence on the international stage.
