Preliminary results of Senate election

On August 19 the Central Election Commission announced preliminary results of the Senate elections, Tengrinews.kz reports. Here is the list of potential new senators: Astana City: Vladimir Redkokashin – 91.7% of votes; Almaty City: Akhan Bizhanov – 88.2% of votes; Akmola Oblast: Zhabal Yergaliyev – 84.6% of votes; Aktuybinsk Oblast: Yeleusin Sagindikov – 90.8% of votes; Almaty Oblast: Lyazzat Turlashov – 94.3% of votes; Atyrau Oblast: Kairat Ishanov – 66.4% of votes; East Kazakhstan Oblast: Talgatbek Abaidildin – 89.7% of votes; Zhambyl Oblast: Yertargyn Astayev – 90.8% of votes; West Kazakhstan Oblast: Rashid Akhmetov – 86.9% of votes; Karaganda Oblast: Serik Akylbay – 94.6% of votes; Kostanay Oblast: Zhanys Nurgaliyev – 92.4% of votes; Kyzylorda Obalst: Myrat Mukhamedov – 81.3% of votes; Mangistau Obalst: Baktybay Shelpekov – 98.2% of votes; Pavlodar Oblast: Askhat Kuzekov – 91.3% of votes; North Kazakhstan Oblast: Samat Yeskendirov – 82.5% of votes; South Kazakhstan Oblast: Kuanysh Aitakhanov – 81.9% of votes. According to the chairman of the Central Election Commission Kuandyk Turgankulov the voting was held in a calm and matter-of-fact environment without any violations of the election law. Observers from international organization, media, social organization, parties and candidates’ agents monitored the elections. “Protocols on the results of the elections must be submitted by the regional commissions to the Central Election Commission on or before August 20, according to the election law. Based on the protocols the Central Election Commission must draw the final results of the elections on or before August 25. The results must be published in the media on or before August 28,” Turgankulov said. 96.6 percent of the electors from the electors lists took part in the voting.
