Tengrinews.kz – The Atomic Energy Agency has issued a press announcement inviting journalists to the ceremonial launch of construction work for the nuclear power plant project in Kazakhstan.
The event will take place on August 8 in the village of Ulken in the Almaty region.
It is noted that the press announcement is not an official statement. However, if there are no changes to the schedule, it can be assumed that August 8 of this year will officially mark the start of construction of Kazakhstan’s first nuclear power plant.
According to the announcement from the Atomic Energy Agency’s press service, the ceremony will include the start of drilling work to collect soil samples, followed by the ceremonial handover of the capsule to the Russian side for research purposes.
Earlier, the head of the Atomic Energy Agency, Almasadam Satkaliyev, stated that construction of the country’s first nuclear power plant could take about seven years.
