Tengrinews.kz - Access to the popular Alma-Arasan tourist route in Almaty will be temporarily restricted from June 3 to July 3, 2025, due to ongoing reconstruction works, according to the city akimat (local government administration).
The closure will affect the section from the parking lot to the thermal spring, as well as the trail leading to the Devichi Slyozy (Maiden’s Tears) waterfall and Terra meadow—destinations beloved by both tourists and locals.
According to Almaty’s akimat, this is part of the second stage of a major renovation project.
“The second phase includes dismantling and replacing old bridges, constructing new trail sections, and installing staircases and other infrastructure,” the akimat reported.
The first phase, which began on May 12, involved clearing rockfall hazards, installing anchor supports, and reinforcing parts of the trail.
The route will remain completely closed throughout the entire reconstruction period, regardless of weekdays, weekends, or public holidays.
“The trail will be fully closed for the duration of the work, including on holidays. Completion is scheduled for July 31, 2025,” the statement said.
However, authorities warned that weather conditions could slightly affect the timeline.
Hikers and tourists are advised to plan their trips accordingly and consider alternative routes during this period.
