Tengrinews.kz - A preventive campaign titled "Mergen" is underway in Almaty from April 17 to 25. As part of the initiative, police officers will visit the homes and apartments of firearm owners to inspect how the weapons are being stored.
Who will be inspected and why
According to the police, the main goal is to ensure that Almaty residents are complying with regulations on the storage, transportation, and use of firearms. Officers will also explain current legal requirements and remind residents to renew their permits on time.
"Civilian firearms pose an increased danger. That’s why it’s extremely important that owners strictly follow the law: renew their licenses in a timely manner and adhere to rules regarding storage and transport," the Almaty police stated.
Police are asking residents to cooperate with the inspections and emphasize that the initiative is being carried out in the interest of public safety.
Previously, police warned that dating platforms have become a tool for criminals.
