Tengrinews.kz - Kazakh photographer Dmitry Dotsenko has unveiled a series of breathtaking images of the Altai Mountains, capturing landscapes that look more like paintings than photographs. Each shot conveys the serenity and unique atmosphere of the region. His work once again drew wide attention from social media users and media outlets.

The photographs

Dotsenko published the images on his Instagram account, noting the incredible diversity of Kazakhstan’s nature—from steppes and forests to lakes, with each region offering something special.

“In this collection, I gathered photographs from different corners of Altai. Already on the way there, I was greeted by vast sunflower fields—thousands of suns against the backdrop of mountains. It was impossible not to stop and take a picture. The scenic Yazovoye and Rakhmany lakes are stunning. These are places where you want to linger, walk along the water, and capture the changing moods of nature,” he wrote.

The photographer said a special place in his heart belongs to Mount Muztau (Belukha), the highest point of Altai at 4,506 meters.

Users' reactions

Social media users were quick to react with admiration:

  • “Fantastic beauty! Thanks to you, we visited Altai virtually! Now we dream of seeing it in person!”
  • “Thank you so much! Your photos make us want to paint these landscapes on canvas.”
  • “Our Kazakhstan! What beauty!”
  • “Looks like Switzerland!”
  • “I was lucky enough to see this beauty with my own eyes. Thanks to your pictures, I relived those wonderful days.”
  • “Amazing landscapes! Straight to the desktop wallpaper!”

Dotsenko shared that he spent three days in the East Kazakhstan Region.

“I shot everything, as always, on my main camera—Sony A7RV with various lenses. The trip wasn’t commercial; it was personal. I’d long wanted to photograph Altai, so I finally made the time. What surprised me was how different the Altai Mountains are from my native Tian Shan. I’d say they’re greener, softer, more flowing, compared to the Tian Shan’s rugged and sharp forms. The most amazing moment was seeing Muztau (Belukha). It rarely reveals its peak, but I was lucky to catch it without clouds. That sight will stay in my memory forever,” he told us.

Previously, Dmitry Dotsenko shared his photo series of the ever-changing beauty of the Alatau mountains on his Instagram.
