Tengrinews.kz - Renowned Kazakhstani photographer Dmitry Dotsenko has once again captured public attention with a new series of stunning images.
This time, Dotsenko found what he calls Kazakhstan’s own “Provence” just outside of Almaty. He shared the photos on his Instagram.
“This isn’t lavender and it’s not Provence, but it makes your heart skip a beat all the same. These are fields of viper’s bugloss near Almaty. It’s the first time I’ve seen them in such full bloom—real midsummer beauty. The plant blooms for quite a while, from mid-June to mid-July,” Dotsenko wrote.

Tengrinews.kz reached out to Dotsenko for more details. He explained the photos were taken at the end of June with a camera—not a drone—at around 6 a.m., when the field was completely empty.
“The atmosphere there is truly special: silence, a breeze, and blue waves stretching to the horizon. It really does feel like Provence, but at the same time, it feels like home, with the mountains in the distance. I’ve never been to France—I’m focused on the beauty of Kazakhstan, so I don’t dream of seeing Provence,” he said.
Dotsenko chose not to reveal the exact location of the field.
“It’s not about being secretive or selfish. I just want to preserve its beauty. Sadly, spots like this can be damaged by careless photo sessions. Since all parts of the plant contain natural toxins, people should also be cautious when handling it,” he explained.
Earlier, Dmitry Dotsenko published a video shot near Almaty, capturing dreamlike footage with horses.
