PHOTO: Weather-resistant hail hit Almaty

Almaty was hit by large hail that didn’t melt away for several hours in spite of the warm weather, Tengrinews.kz reports. The strange 1.5-2cm hail started in Turksib region of Almaty at around 8 p.m. on June 17. It was not preceded by any rail, although other parts of the city had endured rain flows several hours earlier. Witnesses say that the pieces of ice melted away only after a couple of hours. This is the second case of large hail in Almaty this year. The May 17 hail was 2 cm in diameter.
