Tengrinews.kz - More than 200 residents of Oiyl village in the Aktobe region were transported to a safe location by boat as part of ongoing flood prevention efforts, according to the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES).
Authorities are reinforcing an embankment on a temporary bridge in Oiyl district. The operation involves the Department of Emergency Situations personnel, police officers, local authorities, and military personnel.
"During these works, 234 people, including 30 children, were transported using watercraft. Across the region, MES and local executive bodies have been working on snow removal, clearing waterways, strengthening riverbanks, building dams, and diverting water," the ministry stated.
Officials reported that 12,100 cubic meters of snow have been removed, 42,650 cubic meters of water pumped out, and 2,135 sandbags laid with an additional 8,680 prepared.
"There is no immediate threat to the settlement. Water levels in the river are decreasing, and operations are ongoing," MES assured.
Previously, Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov held a meeting of the national headquarters for coordinating flood prevention measures.
