Tengrinews.kz - As of October 7, 2024, a total of 161,707 Kazakhstani citizens and residents have filed an application to restrict their participation in gambling through the eGov mobile app, while an additional 2,816 have submitted written requests. The Ministry of Tourism and Sport provided these updated figures on self-imposed restrictions on gambling.
Most of the individuals opting for self-imposed restrictions are young people aged between 31 and 35, according to the Committee for the Regulation of Gambling and Lotteries under the Ministry of Tourism.
“The Ministry’s pilot project to introduce an online voluntary self-restriction service, which launched on March 18, 2024, has shown positive results, helping reduce gambling participation and providing citizens with an accessible tool to protect their interests,” the ministry said in a statement.
It is worth noting that as of April 1, 2024, more than 7,000 Kazakhstani citizens and residents had used the online service via the eGov mobile app. Additionally, over 3,000 people have submitted written requests to limit their participation in gambling and betting.
Recall that amendments concerning gambling and lottery activities have officially come into effect in Kazakhstan in September.
