Tengrinews.kz - President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev is taking part in the national August Teachers’ Conference, citing Akorda.
This year’s event is dedicated to the theme "Bіlіm keleşegі: adal azamat, käsibï maman" ("The Future of Education: Honest Citizen, Professional Expert").
In his speech, the President noted that over the past four years, teachers’ salaries have doubled.
“The great educator Akhmet Baitursynov once said: ‘The soul of the school is the teacher.’ If we want to become a leading nation, we must provide the best possible conditions for teachers. I pay special attention to education. You may recall that one of my first decisions as President in 2019 was precisely about teachers. We live in an era of knowledge and science. In the context of globalization, only a country with advanced knowledge and new technologies will succeed. If we raise an intellectual new generation today, we will be at the forefront of global progress tomorrow. That is why supporting education remains the main priority of state policy,” Tokayev said.
The Head of State noted that significant progress has been made in education in recent years. Since 2019, the education budget has tripled. A total of 1,200 schools have been built for more than one million students. As part of the “Future Schools” project, 217 schools are planned, 128 of which have already been completed.
“Through the Education Infrastructure Support Fund, more than 60 schools have been opened, and around 30 more are currently under construction. The Law ‘On the Status of the Teacher’ has been adopted, and the title ‘Honored Teacher of Kazakhstan’ has been established. This title has already been awarded to 74 teachers. Last year, two educators received the title ‘Hero of Labor of Kazakhstan.’ This demonstrates the great respect the state shows to the entire teaching community,” Tokayev said.
He also stressed that Kazakhstan pays special attention to raising the social status of teachers.
“Over the past four years, their salaries have doubled. More than 500,000 teachers now receive bonuses. The ‘1,000 Leaders of Change in Education’ project has been launched, with 332 participants already becoming school principals. Teachers have been relieved of additional duties unrelated to their core work, allowing them to fully focus on educating children,” the President noted.

During his speech, Tokayev also stated that the family-clan system no longer exists in government.
“To build a new quality of nation, we have launched major reforms. This is a large-scale and complex task, but we have already achieved significant results. The political system has been completely renewed, and a new economic course has been set. Our society is transforming, and citizens’ mindsets are changing. In public service, the principle of meritocracy is being established. There is no longer a family-clan system in power. Appointments are now made primarily based on knowledge and professionalism,” the Head of State said.

On August 11, at Akorda, during a meeting with school students who won or placed in international academic olympiads, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev expressed his gratitude to all teachers who helped prepare these talented young people.
The President stressed that teachers deserve state awards. He also extended words of gratitude to parents for raising a generation with high intellectual potential.
