Tengrinews.kz – Kazakh nurses helped save the life of a passenger on a flight from Almaty to Kazan, according to the Ministry of Healthcare's press service.
During the flight, one of the passengers suddenly fell ill and lost consciousness. His blood pressure dropped sharply, and his pulse became faint and barely detectable.
Coming to his aid were ultrasound diagnostics doctor Nailya Yevgenyevna Rovkach from Kazan and two nurses from Almaty — Altynai Turzhanovna Kartabayeva and Aydilda Sultanbekovna Konakbayeva, staff members of the Almaty Oncology Center who were traveling on a work trip for training.
The situation required urgent action, including infusion therapy under the tight conditions of the airplane cabin. The support of the Almaty nurses proved crucial.
“Without needing extra words or prompts, they immediately got to work. They knew exactly what to do and what medications were needed. Their professionalism and coordination impressed me. It felt like we’d been working together as a team for a long time,” said Nailya Rovkach.
Despite the passenger’s critically low blood pressure and the challenging conditions onboard, the nurses managed to stabilize him. The man regained consciousness, and after an emergency landing, he was taken to a medical facility for further care.
It turned out the day of the incident was also the passenger’s birthday. Thanks to the efforts of the Kazan doctor and Almaty nurses, he celebrated what he called his “second birthday.”
