Tengrinews.kz - Kazakhstan’s National Security Committee (NSC) has announced the extradition of a Kazakh citizen from Turkey, suspected of involvement in terrorist activities.
On November 16, the NSC, in cooperation with the Prosecutor General's Office, transported a Kazakh citizen from Antalya to Almaty. The individual is suspected of participating in the activities of an international terrorist organization.
"According to investigative materials, the individual had previously traveled to Syria and joined an armed group. He later moved to Turkey, where he was detained by local police. It has been established that the individual voluntarily decided to return to Kazakhstan and is prepared to face criminal responsibility as prescribed by law," the NSC stated.
The suspect is currently under pre-trial investigation under Article 257, Part 2, of the Criminal Code of Kazakhstan ("Establishment, leadership of a terrorist group, and participation in its activities"). A court has sanctioned his detention. Further details are being withheld under Article 201, Part 1, of the Criminal Procedure Code.
Earlier, the NSC conducted a separate operation in Almaty. On November 8, the NSC department in Almaty, coordinated by the prosecutor's office, dismantled an underground laboratory producing synthetic drugs.
