Tengrinews.kz – The National Security Committee (NSC) has reported the detention of supporters of destructive religious movements.
Details were published on the agency’s official website.
“In November, the NSC detained six adherents of destructive religious movements in Almaty, Aktobe, Konaev and Shymkent on suspicion of promoting terrorism, including on social media,” the statement said.
According to investigators, the detainees spread calls for attacks and killings on religious grounds and opposed the secular state order.
During searches, law enforcement officers seized firearms, bladed weapons and a large quantity of religious literature. By court order, all suspects have been placed under arrest.
The NSC added that no further information can be disclosed.
In addition, on 3 November, a resident of Aktobe Region was sentenced to seven years in prison for a similar crime — distributing materials containing calls for terrorism. The verdict has entered into legal force.
Overall, based on NSC data, since the beginning of 2025, 83 people have been detained and 97 convicted for terrorist and extremist activities.
