Tengrinews.kz - The National Security Committee (NSC), together with the police and under the coordination of the prosecutor's office, has disrupted the activities of religious radicals in Almaty, Shymkent, and the Turkestan region.
The special operation took place on February 17.
"Four Kazakh citizens were detained on suspicion of promoting terrorism, including through social media. During searches at their residences, material evidence was seized. A pre-trial investigation is underway under Article 256 of the Criminal Code ('Promotion of terrorism or public calls for committing an act of terrorism')," the statement said.
Further details, in accordance with part 1 of Article 201 of the Criminal Procedure Code, are not subject to disclosure.
Earlier, the NSC carried out a detention in the Abai region. A man was arrested for spreading extremist ideas, including through social media.
