Tengrinews.kz – City Transportation Systems (CTS), explained how Astana LRT passengers will be able to pay for their rides. Payment will be available in several ways, similar to buses.
During a press tour at one of the LRT stations, journalists in the capital were shown the available payment methods. To access the train, passengers will need to buy a ticket from a special machine or at the station ticket office.
According to CTS, payment will be possible using a card from any bank or via a QR code in second-tier bank applications.
There will be no tokens. Instead, they will be replaced by a regular paper ticket, which will also contain a special code.
“The QR code is the ticket; it will need to be scanned at the turnstile,” CTS said.
In addition, passengers will be able to purchase a transport card, top it up and use it multiple times. As a reminder, one ride will cost 200 tenge.
After passing through the turnstile with a ticket or card, the passenger will need to go up to the second floor, to the platform where the LRT train arrives. Everything is like in a regular metro, except there is no need to go underground.
As a reminder, City Transportation Systems Chairman Asylbek Duissebayev said that regular passenger services on the Astana LRT will begin this weekend, May 16–17.
