Tengrinews.kz — The New Year season has begun in Almaty: the city’s main New Year tree was lit up on Abai Square. Ceremonies to light New Year trees were also held in all eight districts of the city.
The main city tree is 22 meters tall. According to the akimat of the southern capital, 7 kilometers of New Year garlands were used to decorate it, along with numerous bright decorative elements, large and small baubles, themed New Year ornaments, and gift-style illuminations.
“A rich festive program has been prepared for residents and visitors, combining modern multimedia technologies, large-scale light decorations, and performances by well-known artists of Kazakhstan’s pop scene,” the statement said.
Hundreds of Almaty residents took part in the event.
The lighting of the southern capital’s main tree was accompanied by an impressive light show.
The concert program featured stars of Kazakhstan’s pop music, show-ballet performers, and figure skaters.
