Tengrinews.kz – The end of 2025 will be eventful in terms of holidays: Kazakhstanis with a five-day workweek will have 9 days off in December and as many as 12 days in January. Tengrinews.kz has prepared a calendar of holidays and days off to help you plan trips and preparations for the New Year in advance.
How Kazakhstanis will rest in December 2025
December will bring Kazakhstanis an additional day off on December 16, when the country celebrates Independence Day. In 2025, the holiday falls on a Tuesday, giving residents a short break in the middle of the week.
For those with a six-day workweek, December 16 will also be a non-working day.
Despite expectations from part of the population, December 31, 2025, will remain a working day. To prepare for the holiday, Kazakhstanis are advised to plan purchases, menus, and potential trips ahead of time.
The idea of making December 31 an additional day off is regularly discussed on social media. However, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection emphasized that the date is not included in the list of state holidays, and therefore declaring it an official day off is “not advisable.”
