Tengrinews.kz - Mazhilis deputies sent a counterproposal to the government regarding the establishment of a new VAT threshold.

On February 20, amendments to the draft Tax Code were submitted to Parliament. In particular, they propose reducing the threshold for mandatory VAT registration from 20 thousand MCI (78.6 million tenge) to 3800 MCI (15 million tenge).

Deputy Azat Peruashev had previously disagreed with the amendment: in his opinion, Kazakhstanis would no longer want to engage in small business. Lowering the threshold should not result in businessmen receiving income below the minimum wage, he said.

"Today, the Mazhilis working group sent the government an amendment from the Ak Zhol faction to establish the VAT threshold at 20 thousand MCI, introduced in response to the government's proposal to lower this threshold to 3800 MCI," the Mazhilis member said on March 6.

Thus, the counterproposal of the deputies is to refuse to lower the VAT threshold in Kazakhstan. The government has not yet commented on the document.
