A new oil field with 200 million tons of oil reserves was discovered in Kazakhstan, KazTAG reports citing the President of KazMunaiGas National Oil Company Kairgeldy Kabyldin. “There is a so called Pre-Caspian Basin. It is sedimentary. This is not the Caspian Sea itself. It is in the eastern part south of Aktobe and close to Zhanazhol and Kenkiyak oil fields. We discovered oil and gas potential in the beginning of this year. Yesterday we have made tests and now we can state the discovery of a new (oil and gas) field in Kazakhstan,” Kabyldin said in the sidelines of Kazakhstan Investment Forum. “I would like to say that exploration well was tested yesterday and we received a big inflow of oil and gas. The substantial potential of the block's reserves is estimated at around 200 million tons of oil,” he said. He also noted that “this is the first case in the history of independent Kazakhstan when Kazakhstan oilmen independently discovered a field.”
