Tengrinews.kz - Plans for the development of Almaty Airport through 2050 have been revealed.
The details were shared during a meeting between TAV Airports Holding CEO Serkan Kaptan and President of Almaty International Airport Göker Köse with the akim (mayor) of the city, Darkhan Satybaldy.
The company presented a master plan outlining phased investments aimed at expanding and modernizing the airport's entire infrastructure through 2050.
The first phase includes the reconstruction of the domestic terminal, the runway, and the upgrade of both engineering and ground infrastructure.
The parties also discussed improving transport accessibility to the airport, including the reconstruction of access roads and the integration of a future metro line into the airport’s transport system.
According to the airport’s press service, Almaty International Airport handles over 11 million passengers annually and accounts for more than 70 percent of Kazakhstan’s air traffic.
