As stated in the response of the akimat (local government administration) to the editorial request, a new landfill will appear in Semey.
"The construction of a new modern landfill for municipal solid waste in Semey is planned for 2025-2026. The landfill will allow us to demonstrate a comprehensive and systematic approach to solving the problem of collecting and disposing of municipal solid waste," the response says.
It is assumed that the set of measures will significantly reduce the volume and level of harmful properties of waste, as well as increase the responsibility of natural users.
A land plot of 100 hectares has been allocated for the construction of a new landfill by the decree of the Akimat of the city of Semey.
"In 2021, JSC Zhasyl Damu transferred equipment for a waste sorting line from SABO worth 2.5 million euros. The project includes the installation of a waste sorting line from SABO at a new landfill. The total cost of the project 'Construction of a landfill for the disposal of municipal solid waste in Semey, Abai region' is 8.6 million tenge, including the construction of the landfill, as well as the construction of a hangar for the sorting line - 2,192.4 million tenge," the akimat added.
