Tengrinews.kz - On January 3, Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev gave an extensive interview in which he expressed dissatisfaction with the work of the country's economic bloc. The head of the National Bank, Timur Suleimenov, responded to the President's criticism.
Answering journalists’ questions during a briefing at the National Bank, Suleimenov stated that he “does not single himself out from the crowd.”
"Earlier, the Head of State spoke about economist-leaders. Of course, the National Bank is one of the economic departments. This is not only the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Finance, but also the National Bank, agencies, Samruk-Kazyna and Baiterek - all economist-leaders. I do not single myself out and believe that the President gave an assessment of the entire economic block (...) Of course, we perceive criticism from the point of view of the National Bank. Moreover, we see it not just as a remark, but as a call to action," the head of the National Bank commented.
Earlier, was published an extensive interview of the Head of State, which Kassym-Jomart Tokayev gave to the Ana tili publication.
In the interview, the President paid special attention to the financial and economic sphere of the country, where he unequivocally stated about the low efficiency of the economic block.
"If economic achievements do not have a positive impact on people's standard of living, then they exist only in virtual reality," the Head of State said.
The President expressed confidence that economic growth at the level of 4 percent is insufficient for Kazakhstan, instructing the Government to search for sources of higher economic growth.
