“More aftershocks possible“: 3 aftershocks registered following earthquake near Almaty

Tengrinews.kz – Three aftershocks have been recorded following the earthquake near Almaty, according to Kazakhstan’s National Seismological Observation and Research Center.

The center reported that aftershocks are part of the “fading process” that follows an earthquake, with each aftershock being significantly weaker than the main tremor.

“Currently, three aftershocks have been registered, and more may follow,” the center stated.

While scientists are unable to predict exact aftershocks, they have assured that no destructive tremors over magnitude 5.5 are anticipated.

The initial earthquake, recorded on November 5 at 10:01 local time, impacted areas in the Almaty region, with tremors reaching intensity levels of 4 in Talgar and Esik.
