Tengrinews.kz - The Ministry of Internal Affairs appealed to Kazakhstanis who are abroad, according to Polisia.kz.
As noted by the Ministry, thousands of citizens are abroad studying or working. They create chats in Telegram and WhatsApp for compatriots, where they exchange information and help each other. Fraudsters can take advantage of this. By connecting to such chats, they position themselves as Kazakhstanis and offer currency exchange services on more favorable terms than usual.
Without directly contacting those wishing to exchange money, fraudsters provide victims with the details of persons engaged in the sale of cryptocurrency, or droppers. Having received money allegedly for currency exchange, they delete the correspondence and leave the chats. There have already been cases of deception of our citizens in Korea, China and the USA.
"We urge citizens to be vigilant and not to accept dubious offers," the department said.
Earlier, The Ministry of Internal Affairs appealed to Kazakh parents. Since the beginning of the year, six teenagers in different regions of Kazakhstan have been detained for drug crimes.
