Tengrinews.kz – The Ministry of Healthcare of Kazakhstan has named the best-selling medicines in the country, citing the ministry’s press service.
According to the ministry, the top-selling labeled drug in Kazakhstan is paracetamol — nearly 3 million packages were sold in pharmacies over the past year. It is followed by sodium chloride, ethyl alcohol, acetylsalicylic acid, and Citramon P in terms of sales volume.
Analysis showed that Kazakhstani citizens most frequently purchase medicines on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Toward the weekend, demand declines and reaches its lowest point on Sundays — which remains the quietest day for sales throughout the year. The cycle then repeats, with demand starting to rise on Mondays and peaking in the middle of the week.
"The introduction of mandatory labeling and traceability of medicines in Kazakhstan has provided the state with a tool for transparent control. Now, the movement of each package can be tracked — from production to sale. This has not only improved safety for consumers but also allowed for analysis of real data on when and which drugs are being purchased by Kazakhstani citizens," the Ministry of Healthcare reported.
In total, according to the ministry, 417 million packages of medicines were labeled over the year, covering more than 60 percent of the market.
