Mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi was placed under state protection

This well-known historical monument - the Mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi - is the first Kazakhstani site included in the UNESCO World Heritage List and is recognized as a unique example of medieval architecture.
"Given its significance and historical-cultural value, and in order to ensure its preservation, the government has adopted a decree to include the "Aziret Sultan" Museum-Reserve in the list of objects subject to state protection. According to the document, the safety of the site will be ensured by the relevant units of the internal affairs bodies," the government press service stated.
The mausoleum was built on the site of the burial of the Turkic poet and founder of Sufi order the Yasawiyya, Khoja Ahmed Yasawi, in the city of Turkestan.
It consists of eight rooms arranged around the central, largest hall of the complex—Kazandyk.
From 1385 to 1405, a complex of structures was built around the mausoleum, and today the museum-reserve includes a mosque, palace halls-large and small aksarai, a library (kitabkhana), and an economic complex that includes a well house (kudukhana), kitchen (askhana), living quarters (khudzhry), and others.
