Tengrinews.kz - Digitalization of lawmaking, AI-based legislative initiatives, green economy, and effective governance were key topics discussed by Maulen Ashimbayev, Chairman of the Senate of Kazakhstan’s Parliament, during his meetings with the President and Speaker of Singapore’s Parliament.

Maulen Ashimbayev conveyed warm greetings from President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to the President of Singapore, Tharman Shanmugaratnam, and congratulated the people of Singapore on the upcoming Independence Day. He emphasized that Singapore has always been a model of visionary development for Kazakhstan.

“As President Tokayev noted during his state visit and lecture last year: ‘Singapore has become an inspiring example for countries like Kazakhstan, pursuing their own path of development, progress, and prosperity.’ Our nations have built a strong, long-term partnership based on mutual respect, shared values, and a common outlook on the future. In recent years, our cooperation has become even more dynamic,” Ashimbayev stated while informing the President about Kazakhstan’s reform agenda initiated by Tokayev.

In response, President Shanmugaratnam expressed interest in Kazakhstan’s socio-economic development and voiced support for the ongoing reforms in the country. He also praised the high level of political dialogue and mutually beneficial partnership between the two countries.

Ashimbayev also met with Seah Kian Peng, Speaker of the Parliament of Singapore, to discuss prospects for interparliamentary cooperation.

“Kazakhstan’s Parliament is keen to learn from Singapore’s unique experiences across various sectors, especially in legislative processes. We are particularly interested in digitalizing lawmaking, using AI in legislative drafting, developing a green economy, and ensuring effective public administration. It's important to actively engage parliamentary friendship groups with Singapore that operate in both chambers of our Parliament, as they are key mechanisms for interparliamentary collaboration,” Ashimbayev noted.
