Tengrinews.kz - Kazakhstan is considering the introduction of mandatory insurance for places where large groups of people gather. The corresponding bill is currently under review by the Mazhilis.

According to Erlan Turegeldiev, Deputy Chairman of the Firefighting Committee at the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES), active work is underway to implement mandatory insurance for housing against emergency situations.

"As part of the civil protection bill, the MES is pushing for the introduction of this type of insurance. Currently, it focuses on public spaces and high-rise buildings. The draft law is under consideration, and after its approval and implementation, the MES will move towards extending it to all facilities, including residential buildings," Turegeldiev explained during an MES briefing.

He added that by 2028, the aim is to fully cover the population with fire insurance. The initial focus will be on places with high foot traffic.

"Once the law comes into effect, we will gradually expand to other facilities. The bill, currently under review in the Mazhilis, addresses civil protection agencies," Turegeldiev concluded.
