In 2025, October 25 falls on a Saturday, so according to the Law “On Holidays”, the day off will be moved to Monday, October 27.
How long Kazakhstanis will rest for Republic Day in October 2025
Five-day workweek
For those working five days a week, October will bring a long weekend:
- October 25 (Saturday) — public holiday;
- October 26 (Sunday) — day off;
- October 27 (Monday) — transferred day off.
In total — three consecutive days off and a short workweek.
In October, employees with a five-day week will have 9 days off and 22 working days.
Six-day workweek
For those working six days a week, there will be no long weekend:
- October 25 (Saturday) — public holiday;
- October 26 (Sunday) — regular day off;
- October 27 (Monday) — working day.

Thus, with a six-day workweek, there will be 5 days off and 26 working days in October.
What is celebrated on Republic Day
Republic Day is a national holiday in Kazakhstan celebrated every year on October 25.
It was established in 1990, when the Declaration of State Sovereignty was adopted. Since 2022, Republic Day has been an official day off.
On this day, festive concerts, exhibitions, flash mobs, and festivals take place across the country. People gather in central squares, take part in cultural events, and spend the holiday with family and friends.
Earlier, social media once again sparked a debate about whether December 31 should be declared an official public holiday. The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection reminded that December 31 is not included in the list of state holidays and that it is “inappropriate to designate it as a day off.”
