Tengrinews.kz - Former Minister of National Economy Kuandyk Bishimbayev, who was sentenced to 24 years in prison, is facing another court case, his lawyer, Erlan Gazymzhanov, told Tengrinews.kz.
According to Gazymzhanov, the upcoming legal proceedings are related to the modification of a child support agreement.
"This agreement was drawn up when Kuandyk was still free, engaged in business, and had a source of income. Naturally, the child support amounts were set quite high. Now the situation has changed — he’s unemployed, and his parents have been covering the payments. There were also some of Kuandyk’s savings, which were used," the lawyer explained.
Gazymzhanov added that Bishimbayev is not employed in prison due to a shortage of available jobs. He also described the terms of the support agreement as confidential.
The lawyer also noted that another legal process could take place involving the brother of the late Saltanat Nukenova — Aitbek Amangeldi.
"There will be another court hearing. Saltanat Nukenova’s brother filed a constitutional complaint with the Supreme Court demanding an increase in the amount of moral compensation. The complaint has been registered, but it’s unclear whether it will be transferred to the Constitutional Court. He originally requested 1.5 billion tenge. The court of first instance awarded 10 million, which has been paid. But he continues to insist on 1.5 billion. The appeals court upheld the initial ruling," Gazymzhanov said.
Earlier, information appeared online that Bishimbayev's father was opening a private university in Taraz under the brand name Bishimbayev University. The Ministry of Science and Higher Education responded to the mailing.
