Tengrinews.kz – Kazhydromet has issued a warning for residents of Almaty and other cities.
“On June 30, 2025, unfavorable meteorological conditions are expected in the cities of Almaty, Aktobe, and at night in the cities of Atyrau and Petropavlovsk,” the statement says.
Unfavorable weather conditions refer to a combination of short-term meteorological factors (calm, light wind, fog, inversion) that contribute to the accumulation of harmful (polluting) substances in the lower layer of the atmosphere.
An inversion is a weather phenomenon in which warm air sits above cold air, trapping it underneath. Normally, warmer air near the ground rises and carries away pollutants. But during an inversion, cold air is “locked in” at the surface, along with exhaust, dust, and smoke. As a result, pollution accumulates near ground level, especially in cities.

On June 30, Almaty is expected to have partly cloudy weather with no precipitation. Northwest wind at 3–8 m/s, with gusts up to 12 m/s during the day. The temperature will be 18–20°C at night and 30–32°C during the day.
