KazakhTelecom will double Internet speed by the end of 2011, Tengrinews.kz reports citing Chairman of the company Kuanyshbek Yessekeyev. “This year we want to double the speed. Loyalty of our users is important to us. We will increase the speed in our Hit package (KazakhTelecom's rate plan),” Yessekeyev said. He promised the the costs will not change with the speed increase. According to Kuanyshbek Yessekeyev, KazakhTelecom is negotiating with large Russian companies, like VKontakte (Russian social network) on local placement of their services inside Kazakhstan. The leading provider also admits the shortage of free platforms for placement of content and plans to construct new ones. “We will open two more data-centers in Astana and Almaty. This decision has been widely supported. Current capacities of Astana and Almaty data-centers are used up to the limit. Currently we have to place servers in other regions,” Yessekeyev said. He noted that investments into construction of data-centers are investments into KazNet (Kazakhstan Internet). By Maksim Popov
