Tengrinews.kz - The Bureau of National Statistics has released updated population figures for Kazakhstan as of April 1, 2025, citing the bureau's official website.
According to the data, the population of the country stood at 20,333,530.
Nearly 4.5 million people reside in Almaty (2,305,765) and the Turkestan region (2,154,308).
The Almaty region (1,568,757) and Astana (1,551,213) each have more than 1.5 million residents. The capital continues to show the fastest population growth in the country, with a rate of 1.47 percent.
Over one million people live in Shymkent (1,264,492), the Zhambyl region (1,221,100), and the Karaganda region (1,133,436).
A total of 12,833,140 people live in urban areas, while 7,500,390 live in rural areas.
Earlier, Kazakhstan's population was announced as of March 1, 2025.
