Tengrinews.kz - The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Kazakhstan has released new figures on the average pension size in the country.
According to the ministry, since the beginning of 2025, pension payments from the national budget have totaled 2.45 trillion tenge. Of this, 793 billion tenge was allocated for basic pensions, and 1.66 trillion tenge for solidarity pensions.
“As of August 1, 2025, the number of pensioners in Kazakhstan amounted to 2.49 million people. The average combined pension paid from the national budget was 143,097 tenge, including 95,491 tenge for the solidarity component and 47,606 tenge for the basic pension,” the statement reads.
For comparison, on July 1, the average combined pension was 143,529 tenge, with the solidarity pension at 95,912 tenge and the basic pension at 47,617 tenge.
The ministry recalled that from January 1, the basic pension was increased by 6.5 percent in line with the National Bank’s projected inflation level. The solidarity pension was raised by 8.5 percent, which is two percentage points higher than the forecast inflation.
In addition, under a presidential initiative launched in 2023, the minimum basic pension is being gradually raised over five years to reach 70 percent of the subsistence minimum, while the maximum will rise to 120 percent.
