Tengrinews.kz – In October 2025, Kazakhstanis will have an extra day off to celebrate Republic Day, one of the country’s main national holidays, observed every year on October 25. Tengrinews.kz has prepared a handy calendar to help you plan your long weekend and shorter workweek in advance.
What Republic Day celebrates
Republic Day is Kazakhstan’s only national holiday. It was established in 1990, when the Declaration of State Sovereignty was adopted. Since 2022, Republic Day has been an official public holiday.

Five-day workweek
In 2025, October 25 falls on a Saturday, so according to the law “On Holidays”, the day off is moved to Monday, October 27.
This means Kazakhstanis will enjoy three consecutive days off:
- October 25 (Saturday) – public holiday;
- October 26 (Sunday) – regular day off;
- October 27 (Monday) – substitute day off.
In total, October 2025 will have 9 non-working days and 22 working days for five-day schedules.
Six-day workweek
For those working six days a week:
- October 25 (Saturday) – public holiday;
- October 26 (Sunday) – regular day off;
- October 27 (Monday) – working day.
That makes 5 days off and 26 working days in October 2025.
