Tengrinews.kz – In October, Kazakhstanis will enjoy one extra day off thanks to the celebration of Republic Day. Tengrinews.kz has prepared a handy calendar for the month so you can plan your leisure time and potential trips in advance.
Republic Day is the only national holiday in Kazakhstan celebrated annually on October 25. It was established in 1990 with the adoption of the Declaration of State Sovereignty. Since 2022, Republic Day has been designated as an official day off.
How Kazakhstanis will rest on Republic Day in 2025
Five-day work week
In 2025, October 25 falls on a Saturday, so according to the law “On Holidays”, the day off is moved to Monday, October 27.
Thus, people with a five-day work week will have a three-day weekend:
- October 25 (Saturday);
- October 26 (Sunday);
- October 27 (Monday).
Total days off in October: 9 days. Working days: 22
Six-day work week
For those working six days a week, the holiday weekend will be shorter:
- October 25 (Saturday) – holiday;
- October 26 (Sunday) – regular day off;
- October 27 (Monday) – regular workday.
Total days off in October: 5 days.
What happens on Republic Day?
Across the country, Republic Day is celebrated with concerts, exhibitions, festivals, and sporting events.
